During your stay at Falcon House you will have full use of the Lower Mill Estate facilities, including tennis court, indoor and outdoor pool and Spa facilities, as well as access to the boating and fishing lakes (subject to fishing season).

For younger guests there is a children's playground as well as a trampoline, cricket nets, football pitch and acres of open space. Adults may be more tempted by the Bakers Arms pub 15 minutes walk away in the pretty village of Somerford Keynes.

Historic Cirencester is six miles away, where the newly refurbished Corinium Museum (Tel 01285 655611) celebrates the Roman history of the town, and the Corn Hall plays host to a wide variety of events throughout the year including Craft markets and Antiques markets

Swindon is 14 miles away and has a very large shopping centre with a wider range of high street names. Throughout the year Swindon also plays host to a number to a number of Music festivals.

Cheltenham is 25 miles away by road, and easily accessed by train from Kemble. There are frequent race meetings throughout the year and one of the highlights of the racing calendar, the Cheltenham Festival in March.

Outdoor Activities

The Estate is part of the Cotswold Water Park which has more than 100 manmade lakes. A number of these lakes have been left to nature and a large number are used for a variety of leisure activities.


There are a number of lakes in the Waterpark that are designated fishing locations catering for fly-fishing and coarse fishing and The Watermark Fisheries are open all year round.

Cycle Hire

The Waterpark has many cycle paths and bridleways. Bicycles can be hired from Go-by-cycle at Keynes Country Park, five minutes away.


There are a number of golf clubs in the area.
For experienced golfers Wrag Barn Golf Club is 20 minutes drive away, near Highworth. The course is a challenging 18 hole, par 72 course. Booking essential, strict dress code. Tel 01793 861327.
For more casual play South Cerney Golf Club is five minutes drive away and has a covered driving range. Tel 01285 861001.

Animal encounters

As well as the wildlife on the Estate and in the Estate’s Organic Farm, there are a number of places where you can get close to animals. The Cotswold Wildlife Park just outside Burford offers a selection of more exotic wildlife. Set in 160 acres of parkland, and open all year round. For younger guests there is a children's farmyard, and throughout the year the Manor House is the setting for a series of evening events with gardening experts. Tel 01993 823006.

Cotswold Farm Park
near Cheltenham is regularly featured on television programmes and is home to wide range of rare breeds of British farm animals. For children there are plenty of opportunities to touch and hold the young animals, and for older children there is an indoor playbarn, tractor school and an adventure playground. Tel 01451 850307.


Head 4 Heights Aerial Adventure Centre is a great spot for those who enjoy 'high adventure' with a choice of seven climbing-related activities. Tel 01285 770007.

The Thames Path: The River Thames begins its journey to the sea near Cirencester and meanders through the Cotswold Waterpark. The Thames Path can be followed from its source to London, a distance of 184 miles. You could walk the whole length, but there are many beautiful, shorter walks along the Path within the Waterpark!

Shopping and Markets

Whilst in the Cotswolds you may wish to sample local produce. There are numerous farmers markets in the surrounding area.

If Outlet shopping is more to your taste, the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet Village is on the outskirts of Swindon.
Further afield, Bicester Village is approximately 50 miles away.

The Bakers Arms, Somerford Keynes, a 15th Century village pub 15 minutes walk from Lower Mill Estate. There is a varied menu of meals and snacks, a selection of wines and a garden with outdoor seating. Tel 01285 861298.
The Wild Duck at Ewen, approximately two miles away, in a picturesque location, dates back to 1563. The Wild Duck has a very popular restaurant with a good selection of beer and wine. There is also a garden outside. Tel 01285 770310.

Take-Aways and Catering

If you don’t want to cook during your stay there are a number of take-aways within a short drive, or if you are celebrating a special occasion you might like a special three-course meal delivered.
